Happyjacks Picnic in the Park 2017

August 3, 2017 by happyjacks2012

Happyjacks Picnic in the Park returns for another year!

Happyjacks Soft Play are busy preparing for another Picnic in the Park, which is set to take place at Gildredge Park in Eastbourne on Tuesday 8 August from 10.30am to 3pm.

Last year’s event saw over 1,000 people descend on the park to enjoy activities from football to softplay, dancing to drumming and plenty in between. This year looks set to be just as action-packed, with softplay, a bouncy castle, drumming, dancing, martial arts, pre-school football and rugby and arts & crafts all confirmed for the day.

Over the past 3 years the event has raised over £3,000 for Chestnut Tree children’s hospice, and Happyjacks will be supporting the charity again this year.

“All of the activities in the arena on the day are being provided for free by local children’s businesses, with participants being asked to make a £1 donation to Chestnut Tree in order to take part,” explains Happyjacks owner Jaki Tompkins. “Along with the main arena there will also be many side stall activities to take part in, from arts & crafts to teddy tombola’s – so much to do for the whole family.”

“We wanted to support Chestnut Tree as they do such amazing work with local families,” says Jaki. “They’ve also supported us all the way with the event; it’s been fantastic working with them.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to all of our suppliers for making this event possible. Everyone is welcome; bring along your picnics and your pounds and be prepared for a great day.”

Kallikids said:-

We are so impressed with the energy, positivity and creativeness of Happyjacks.
Jaki’s ethos of encouraging children shines through everything she does and we love her response to all children who say “I can’t do it”: she simply replies ;”I cannot do it YET”.
Happyjacks proactively raise money for local charities, are very supportive of other local businesses and put time into helping others selflessly. Well done Happyjacks.

We would like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to all those who voted for us and for everyones continued support. We couldn’t do it without you!

Happyjacks Picnic in the Park 2016 a success!!

August 11, 2016 by happyjacks2012

Happyjacks Softplay successfully hosted their third Picnic in the Park on 26 July and raised over £1,300 for Chestnut Tree children’s hospice in the process.

The annual event proved as popular as ever, attracting over 1000 people to Gildredge Park to enjoy taster sessions from a wide variety of children’s activity providers. Football, dancing, baby sensory, singing, drumming and softplay were amongst the activities on offer, whilst parents could also find out more about financial planning, baby swimming, baby signing, pre-school, bouncy castle, face painting and martial arts.

“It was such a great day” said organiser Jaki Tompkins of Happyjacks Softplay. “What started as a meet up for parents who come to our softplay sessions and classes has grown and evolved into this amazing event.”

Chestnut Tree also attended on the day, helping to marshal the event and running their own awareness stand where parents and carers could find out more about the work the hospice do in East Sussex. With the help of its Hands Up campaign, the charity is currently expanding services in East Sussex, with the aim of reaching more of the families who need their care here.

“As part of our campaign we need to raise awareness and funds for the hospice, and Happyjacks’ picnic in the park has become a vital part of that for us” says Georgina Cook, Fundraising Officer for East Sussex. “Over the last three years the event has raised over £3,000, and helped us reach thousands of people, Jaki should be very proud of herself.”

Jaki is already planning next year’s event, and says she will continue to support Chestnut Tree. “We love doing it, and we love supporting such an amazing and supportive charity” she says. “We are working on the details and will let everyone know the date and venue as soon as we can.”

Happyjacks donates equipment

March 21, 2016 by happyjacks2012

Happyjacks are proud to be donating vital equipment to a very worthy project. Brighton build are currently building a school, a soft play room and a family centre in the first official refugee camp in Dunkirk. The build is going well so far, they began building on Saturday and hope to have it completed in two weeks. Brighton Build are totally funded by lovely people giving them donations, so far, these donations bought all the building materials that they need! But now they need to fill it! Part of the new build is a small soft play room for babies and toddlers to roll around and to develop physically and that is where Happyjacks stepped in!

Living conditions in the Grande Synthe refugee camp in Dunkirk are at humanitarian crisis point but thankfully there are brighter times ahead.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the Dunkirk Town Council are currently building a new site to rehouse the 2500 refugees currently living in Grande Synthe. 500 heated tents, toilets, showers and a new medical centre await their arrival but there is no funding left for the essential communal and safe spaces that refugees rely upon and have become integral to life in Grande Synthe.

Brighton Build have been invited to build a brand new children’s centre on the new site. The centre will include 2 classrooms, a baby and toddler soft room, an enclosed outdoor play/learn space as well as a safe space for vulnerable parents. There are more than 300 children on the present site including a long list of unaccompanied minors. After months of amazing work from the education teams in the 2 schools onsite (the Dunkirk Kids Welfare school and the Edlumino School http://www.edlumino.org) many of the children attend the school building for lessons on a daily basis. To continue the stability that these vulnerable children have become accustomed to it is essential that, at very least, the classroom building is complete by the time the refugees start populating the new site. The current date of arrival is set for mid March so we don’t have much time.

We hope you believe in this project as much as we do. If you share our passion we invite you to DONATE, FUNDRAISE and SHARE THIS PROJECT and be part of making a massive difference to the lives of the refugee families in Dunkirk. please click on the link below.
